PREPATION

  1. Serum Creatinine.
  2. Empty Stomach.
  3. Tray.
  4. Injection Phenergan / Hydrocortisone.
  5. Apply 18G Cannula to Right Hand.
  6. Old Documents.

 

CT CONTRAST VOLUME  AND FLOW RATE

  1. CT Brain Perfusion ---- 40--------05 ml/sec.


IV CANULA SIZES FLOW RATES 

  1. DEEP GREEN------------18G--------- 5-7 ml/sec-----------------76 ml/min
  2. PINK-----------------------20G--------- 3.5-4.5  ml/sec------------54 ml/min
  3. DEEP BLUE--------------22G--------- 2.5-3.5  ml/sec------------31 ml/min


INDICATION

CT perfusion studies are performed in the context of patients presenting with acute neurological symptoms that may represent cerebral infarction or cerebral hemorrhage. It is often the last study in the code stroke CT pathway.



POST PROCESSING

Post-processing methods differ, depending on the vendor of the machine; however, the primary focus of the post-processing will be the measure of: 

  1. Mean transit time (MTT) or time to peak (TTP) of the deconvolved tissue residue function (Tmax).
  2. Cerebral blood flow (CBF).
  3. Cerebral blood volume (CBV).
